Neural Control and Coordination is an important chapter for the NEET examination. Here in this article, we are providing Video lectures on Neural Control and Coordination along with summary notes and previous year questions with detailed solutions.
Neural Control and Coordination
The human body is a collective functional unit composed of several organs that work in complete coordination with one another. Organs cannot function alone because each organ has specific needs that must be met, and the organ cannot meet those needs on its own. As a result, all organs in the human body require the assistance of other organs to perform their functions, and an organ system is formed as a result.
All animals’ neural systems are made up of highly specialised cells called neurons, which can detect, receive, and transmit various types of stimuli. In insects, the neural system is more organised, with a brain as well as a number of ganglia and neural tissues.
Human Neural System
The human Neural system is divided into two parts
- Central Nervous System
- Peripheral Nervous System
The Central Nervous System, or CNS, is the site of information processing and control and includes the brain and spinal cord. The Peripheral Nervous System or PNS is made up of all the nerves in the body that are linked to the Central Nervous System. The nerve fibres in the PNS are two types
- Afferent Fibres
- Efferent Fibres
Afferent nerve fibres carry impulses from tissues/organs to the CNS, whereas efferent nerve fibres carry regulatory impulses from the CNS to the concerned peripheral tissues/organs.
Structure of Neuron or Nerve Cells
A neuron, also known as a nerve cell, is a structural and functional unit of the nervous system that is specialised in receiving, conducting, and transmitting impulses. It is quite long, reaching 90-100 cm at times. A neuron is made up of three parts: the cell body, dendrites, and axon. Both dendrites and axons are referred to as neurites.
The first video session is conducted by Dr Stuti Agarwal. She discusses the topic of Neural Control and Coordination in one shot.
The next four video lecture sessions are from Ms Aishwarya Gurung. She is a NEET expert and subject matter specialist of NEET Biology. She conducts the video lecture on the topic of Neural Control and Coordination in four different sessions.
The next session is conducted by Mr Ajay Kumar. He is a NEET coach and subject matter specialist in NEET Biology. This is a special video session where he discusses the previous year questions from the topic, Neural Control and Coordination.
