Biomolecules is an important topic for the NEET examination. This topic needs immense preparation and hard work. Here in this article, we are sharing Important Video lectures on the topic of Biomolecules along with summary notes and Previous year questions with detailed solutions.

The most amazing part of a living system is that it is made up of non-living atoms and molecules. Living systems are composed of a variety of complex biomolecules such as carbohydrates, proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and so on.

Biomolecules are organic compounds that form the very backbone of a cell in living organisms. Carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, for example, could all be present in varying proportions. All of these biomolecules serve important functions and are produced within the body.

Types of Biomolecules

Carbohydrates are polysaccharides and are the final products of most of the metabolic processes in our body. They are the fundamentals of our metabolic machinery, and their molecular structure is made up of many monosaccharides linked together. Carbohydrates are abundant in most living cells, and it is safe to say that these biomolecules are the very basis of life on our planet.

Proteins are organic compounds that are abundant in our diets and are composed of amino acids. They are made up of long-chain monomers joined together by polypeptide bonds. As a result, proteins are sometimes referred to as polypeptides.

Fats, oils, steroids, phospholipids, and glycerol are examples of hydrophobic compounds. Lipids can vary in structure and properties depending on the constituents.

Nucleic Acids

The smallest fundamental units of our genetic information, also known as genes, are made up of DNA and RNA building blocks. These are the genetic material of our bodies and are made up of nitrogenous bases, sugar molecules, and a phosphate group.
