Medical Colleges in India produce the most doctors in the world, reflecting the emergence and spread of medical colleges over the last two decades, particularly in the private sector. Any significant changes to medical syllabi must be approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI), the governing body. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare governs the implementation of MCI recommendations for the recognition or de-recognition of a medical college, whereas individual institutions have varying sets of laws for their associated medical schools.

As per the latest report, there are 542 medical colleges and 64 independent Post Graduate institutions in India. The National Medical Commission recognizes the qualifications of these medical institutions. Admissions to these medical colleges are strictly based on the performance in the National level medical entrance test called NEET examination. National Testing Agency (NTA) is the exam conducting body and once the results are out, medical seats will be allocated to qualified candidates by the procedure called NEET Counseling. This blog is provided with information on the top 25 medical colleges in India as per their ranks.
