Manipur is a state in Northeast India, with the capital city of Imphal. It is bounded to the north by Nagaland, to the south by Mizoram, and to the west by Assam. It also shares boundaries with two Myanmar regions: Sagaing Region to the east and Chin State to the south.

As per the unofficial records, a good number of students have attended the NEET examination in Manipur’s NEET examination centre in Imphal. It was the one and only exam centre in Manipur. There are two major government medical colleges in Manipur. Here in this blog, we are sharing mandatory information regarding those two medical colleges.

1. RIMS Imphal – Regional Institute of Medical Sciences

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences was founded on September 14, 1972, as the Regional Medical College. It is located in the Manipur town of Lamphelpat. It is managed by the “North Eastern Regional Medical College Society,” which was officially formed under the Manipur Societies Registration Act of 1989.

2. JN Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal

The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences is a renowned state-supported medical college and hospital in Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur. it is commonly known as JN Hospital. it was established in 1989. They have 21 departments, with a separate Dental College added in 2017. There have been 11 academic batches as of May 2019, nine for the MBBS programme and two for the BDS course.
